During the course of the project, we held two 'Introduction to MOCO' workshops, on the 28th of May and the 8th of July. These sessions provided a great opportunity for group representatives to meet each other and the MOCO team. Attendees benefitted from the professional expertise of MOA professionals and were given guidance on how their group could best participate. Everyone especially enjoyed handling original material from the Mass Observation Archive!

The third and final workshop took place on the 22nd of September and gave newer recruits to the project a chance to learn a bit about the history of MO as well as the outcomes of the MOCO project. Our web developer from Community Sites, Jack Latimer, also presented a session on the technical aspects of the website and submission process, enabling individual groups to carry on using the same digital solutions independently.

Interested in MOCO but didn't manage to attend one of our introductory workshops? Now you can watch one online. In order to make the workshop information accessible to everyone, we filmed two key sessions from our July workshop (held at the University of Sussex):

Session 1: Introduction to Key Mass Observation Techniques (Dorothy Sheridan)

Session 2: Photography, Observation and Ethical Considerations (Fiona Courage)
