A rest day

Sunday 12th September Rest “at home” day (missed 10.30 church service) because really busy week (not one but two dinner invitations!). So read Saturdays ‘Times’ in bed with a cuppa then decided – as the sun still shone – to spend another couple of hours preparing my flower garden for winter.
Popped a chicken in the oven to roast and removed plants from 4 hanging baskets. Watered my neighbours garden (on holiday for a fortnight). Finished preparing lunch (fresh summer beans and new potatoes from my sisters garden) & dinned alone (as usual) now 2 o’clock. Took a quick shower.
Filled the dish washer then sent a couple of family emails. Since Sunday is ‘the day of rest’ I relaxed with the magazines from the paper. Half watched last nights ‘X-Factor’ recorded on Sky plus, as I read them and nodded off for half an hour.
8 pm my daughter phoned (after putting my grandsons to bed) for an hour, then I watched a 3-hour ‘Catherine Cookson’ epic on the Yesterday channel.
