24 year old unemployed female living in Brixton
Question 1. Give your reasons and analyse your motives for living in the district where you do live.
We currently live in south london, the major reson is to be close to my husbands Univerisity. We were also lucky enough to know someone who had a spair room. So the location was chosen for convience.
Question 2. In what ways do you consider yourself different from your neighbours?
The majority of our neighbours are Black. We live on an estate made up of families where as we are all young people without children. Also we are all at University or have been through University which is not the norm for our area.
Question 3. When you go into pubs, which bar do you use and why?
Having researched the meaning of the two differant types of bar, i think i would use the saloon. The pub i chose to go to are that type rather than a real old style locals pub.
Question 4. What priced seats do you use at the cinema and why?
I get the normal priced seats. Because we are all seeing the same film why pay a bit more for it. Also i won't go to a cinima where they are not comfitable or you can't see.
Question 5. What forms of food, drink or amusement are thought “infra dig” or not quite the things in your circles? * Infra dig means something that is unbecoming of one's position or beneath one's dignity.
Food wise i would say any resturant would be ok its just how and when you use it i.e i would not go to a fast food resturant for dinner with friends, but might do for a fast meal in the day. The only drink i would think unbecoming would be something like White lighting or another cheap can/bottle of alcohol. However as a student somethink like Sainsburies own wine is acceptable (if partly a joke) Amusements that I would not partake in are going to a strip club, an arcade, hanging out in a park or street corner drinking cheap alcohol
Question 6. Are you sensitive on the subject of accent and have you made any attempt to change your own?
No, I have been told I have many differant accents but its just generic for the south of England. I have noticed it become slightly posher since meeting my Husband but that was by accedent
Question 7. Do you make a habit of using the following words and phrases? If not, what is your reaction when they are used by others?
I have used a few, but if others used them i don't really notice. The main one that I have herd but is used rarely is Toodaloo.
