Written by an 84 year old retired male from Adderbury, Oxfordshire.
Diary 12th September 2010.
5.30 awake, switch on light, toilet, fill kettle and switch on.
6.00 get up, toiletries, get dressed, at 84½ this takes ½ an hour.
6.30 prepare breakfast, porridge and prunes, 2/3 pint of water, ½ cup of tea.
6.45 eating breakfast, radio2 on, poor on Sundays, taking pills x4.
7.00 my thinking time, making job lists, what shall I have for lunch today?
7.30 record temperature and actual weather condition, 12c 44f wall to wall blue sky and sun. go walkies to Adderbury lakes using my 4 wheeled walking aid. Sunday no one about, took 35 mins.
8.05 check for emails. Looking at demo for making own business cards, sorting out files and papers. It being Sunday, would normally read the telegraph on return from my walk on a week day.
8.50 Snack, sausage roll and ½ cup of tea.
9.00 Sunday telegraph now arrived, read same.
9.30 type this diary up so far.
10.00 get kidney beans, carrots from the garden and prepare with potatoes for lunch, my main meal, with Fray Bentos steak and kidney pie (yummy).
10.30 phoned my brother in law, talking mainly about computer storage and retrieval systems.
10.45 another read of paper.
11.15 start cooking lunch, odd jobs tidying up and sweeping up in the kitchen whilst keeping an eye on the cooking, make the tea, lunch soon over, was marvellous, treat myself to 4 cubes dark Belgian choc
12.00 noon, more spraying garden paths with sodium chlorate weed killer.
12.45 watching F1 grand prix from MONZA.
2.45 walk down to the village with my walking aid, sit on seat outside my wife’s old house, where she was born.
4.00 son John here, looking at veg patch and forward planting same, etc.
5.45 washing up, get ready for bath later, get my supper ready, cheese and biscuits and thermos flask for tea in the night.
6.15 daughter on the phone.
6.30 watch ITV news.
7.00 have bath.
7.45 and so to bed, reading book (Samuel peeps diary). Lay down and soon asleep.
